Description
Detail from woman's skirt or petticoat in crimson red silk satin embroidered with a deep border in multicoloured silk and metal threads of curling stems around flowers, including borage, daffodils, honeysuckles, lilies, pinks, roses, and pansies and thistles with birds, butterflies and insects, rising in regular peaks with a thistle at each apex. Possibly belonged to Queen Anne of Denmark. Given by Charles I to William Levett, Page of the Backstairs and later Groom of the Bedchamber. Part of the Burrell Collection.
